Google’s success will continue in the UK

July 25, 2015

Bigmouthmedia, the digital marketing agency, has conducted a survey based on more than 1,100 responses, evenly split between male and female. The survey asked for opinions about Google, one of the five most popular sites on the Internet that is used around the world by millions of people.

The survey reveals that the majority of British internet users – 53% – are actually in favour of Google’s success. However, when asked if they thought that Google would actually hold its post as the leading search engine in five years’ time, the figures were higher. This means that more people believe that Google will maintain its lead than those who actually want it to.

According to bigmouthmedia, women are more supportive of the search engine than men, with only 5% of women wanting Google to lose its first place ranking. About 40% of respondents admitted that they did not know whether they wanted Google to keep its lead or not. Earlier search engine research carried out by bigmouthmedia had revealed that men are 50% more likely than women to view Google as becoming too commercial.

The data shows how confident searchers are of Google and how much goodwill the search engine has secured.

Half the world’s population now has access to the Web and almost 90% of them find websites through search engines, which drive more than half of online purchases.

Google was founded in the USA in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin and is widely recognised as the world’s largest search engine with 380 million global unique users every month. As a business, Google generates revenue by providing advertisers with the opportunity to deliver measurable, cost-effective online advertising that is relevant to the information displayed on any given page. The company has grown to more than 10,000 employees worldwide, with a management team that represents some of the most experienced technology professionals in the industry.
